What is GoodTails Market?
The primary goal of GoodTails Market is to raise money for animal shelters and rescues (usually the types housing dogs and cats) by selling merchandise and donating a portion of the profits to the shelter/rescue. This money can be used in any way the organization deems necessary.
The secondary goal is to raise awareness about the importance of:
- shelter pet adoption, foster and rescue
- spaying/neutering pets
- the role pets and other animals play in our lives
Hopefully, all of these help to reduce the number of pets in shelters and improve the treatment cats, dogs, and other animals receive by humans.
If you aren’t participating in a fundraiser, you’re still welcome to shop on GoodTails Market! It works just like any other online retailer.
GoodTails Market is a new business started in June of 2025. We are online-only and based in Iowa. We wanted to combine people’s love of pets and animals with their desire to shop and their desire to support their local animal shelter.
Most of our merchandise focuses on cat, dog and animal shelter themes including adopt, foster, rescue, spay, neuter, etc. We do carry a smaller selection of “non-animal” merchandise. Overall, we try to keep everything funny, cute, uplifting and/or positive. We want to appeal to as many shoppers as possible and raise the most money we can for each shelter.
Donations
We donate 50% of the merchandise sales profit back to the animal shelter running the fundraiser. Only merchandise sold during the fundraising period is included. GoodTails Market keeps the other 50%. We are NOT a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
**To make sure the shelter/rescue running a fundraiser gets their donation, their full name needs to be entered during checkout in the “Animal Shelter/Rescue Name” section. You won’t be able to donate to shelters not running approved fundraisers.
About the Founder
GoodTails Market started with one person’s desire to make a difference for the animals living in shelters and rescues. That person is me. I’ve spent over 7 years volunteering with my own local humane society, and I care deeply about shelter animals.
After joining my local humane society's Board of Directors, I realized the great financial need of our shelter. I also learned that many, many animal shelters are barely keeping up with their bills and are in need of more funding. The cost of vet care, staffing, utilities, building maintenance, etc. can be overwhelming.
We split the fundraiser profit with the participating shelter. In taking less of the profits for ourselves, we are able to give more to the animals in need. It is my hope that GoodTails will make a positive contribution to many shelters in the years to come.
So please volunteer, adopt and be an advocate for your local shelter!
